Necessary steps for applying plaster

First coating

Before you are starting the project, make sure that you choose the corner of the wall or ceiling as it will give a uniformity to your project. It would be better to use flexible trowel to place the plaster on the wall. During the first coat, you are advised to apply thin coatings and hold the trowel in your hand at a 30 degree angle. When you are applying the plaster make sure that you clean the trowel occasionally and provide uniformity in the wall while placing the plaster. Before you apply the final coat make sure that you give at least 4 hours gap so that plaster may dry completely.

Second coating

You should use plaster with similar color shade and this time you are supposed to hold the trowel at a sixty degree angle and apply a thin coating. It is mandatory to even the surface of the wall and fill the gaps which are left during the first phase.

Top coat

If you are living in an area which receives too much rain then top coating will provide durability to the wall. In the initial step, you have to sand grit the wall and immediately place the top coat on the wall. Make sure that the color of top coat is a bit dark than the first two coats. After this step, you also have to apply a wax layer to secure the wall.
